my laptop was working perfectly fine a couple weeks ago until my brother walked past and kicked the power cable D: this caused it to get basically ripped out of the port on my laptop DDX, anyway, before, i could use the cable but there was a few times when it wouldnt work until i twisted it around a bit, anyway, now its not working at all and so im using the battery alone (i used to leave it plugged in while i used it unless i couldnt so i never had to worry about battery percentage)

anyway, is it the power cable i seem to be having the problem with, the mains port on my laptop or the battery?

Most probable casue of your problems, are the mains plug receptacle on the motherboard. I'm guessing that the kick and subsequent forcefull rip has damaged its connection points to the motherboard.
If you are lucky you can solder it (or a replacement) back on - If not, you need a new motherboard.
It's definitely not something covered by warranty.

Kick your brother in the gonads, HARD, so he can't reproduce - Then he knows how your AAO is feeling ;)

Nope. Mains plug receptacles on motherboards don't suddenly pop loose.
