I've been researching ways to strip down WinXp Home to free up disk space and speed up performance. I used WinDirStat and found that the 1386 folder on the root of C: is taking up over half a gig of space. I'm planing on imaging my drive for backup purposes so I'm not sure I need it.

Does anyone know if I actually need this?

    Thanks

Yes and no. Yes, you need this folder because it includes all the windows files you need if you make changes to windows - like add a printer. No, if you keep the files handy on a CD or memory stick you can point Windows to the new location. For instance, I moved it to an SD card.
