    Greetings,
I recently purchased the AOD250 AAO with the Windows XP SP3 in it. It came with the standard 1 GB RAM in it and I uopgraded to the 2GB RAM before even turning on the unit for the first time. No problems what so ever with this computer.
I noticed it came with the 1.13 BIOS installed. I notice there is newer versions of it on the Acer web site. I'm a believer in if it's not broke, don't fix it. Am I missing anything by keeping the present BIOS in and not updating to a newer BIOS?
I've noticed on this forum that some people have upgraded to different versions of the BIOS and some have not had the best results after upgrading.
Any help on this matter would be appreciated. I have not noticed any problems as of yet with the present BIOS.
    Thanks in Advance :)

I want to know the same thing.. how does the new bios work so far? I'm with you.. will upgrade the bios on a need-to-upgrade basis.

Glad your 2GB memory upgrade is working well. Mine's being delivered tomorrow and can't wait. It's silly to upgrade these netbooks but oh so fun, haha.

BTW, mine is a D250 not AOD250.. what's the diff?

I upgraded to the 1.22 from like 1.06 and noticed a big difference in performance as well as better power saving scheme transitioning when going from battery to AC power. I also upgraded to 2 gigs of RAM and installed Win7 (had both before the BIOS upgrade so it is apples-to-apples). It's too bad Aspire won't put out a changes index for their BIOS revisions.

I'm a newb to netbooks but AAO is just short for Acer Aspire One, AO is Aspire One.

I'm sticking with 1.06 bios for now since it's running XP just like radu14m's and am very happy with its performance & battery life, which is amazing. A change log certainly would be nice for Acer to provide with their bios releases. Might try some experimenting after my main laptop gets back from repair, but for now, this tiny netbook is my main laptop. Thanks MassiveOverkill for explaining the obvious and being so nice about it. AOD250=D250, got it. :D

Oh yeah, installed 2GB RAM and all is great.

Np man. I just upgraded to 1.25. I gotta go see Avenue Q with the GF, but I'll report back any problems with the new version.

well, i flshed the new bios version from windows, and not from DOS.
this must be not the reason, why i had problems with the sistem.

anyway, the behaviour was very strange.
Everytime i manage to start the windows, the sata controler was found, instaled and a new start was requested. After starting the windows, there was the same behaviour as described above !

I checked also the bios version, and the Everest confirmed the new bios version.

I did not try to instal win7, just XP - Everytime i get BSOD -Y even with disabling the AHCI via BIOS....
any ideas why it bevahe like this ?
