Don't buy from Ebay seller - Toptouchscreen

For all who are going to purchase solderless touch screen, don't buy from ebay seller toptouchscreen. They only answer your email before you make the payment. After you pay the item, you will hardly get a response. Also, they are not giving you any tracking info. They only give you response when you file dispute with paypal. This is my 3rd week of purchase and I still haven't gotton my touch screen.

 

Yes, I agree. Little communication before you pay and then no communication.

Better to buy from some other seller.

 

I'll third that motion.

I bought from him, waited 3 weeks before I finally reported him to PayPal for non-receipt. He finally claimed that the package was "lost" but when I asked him for a tracking number he said the one he had "didn't work" or something to that effect. He finally "re-sent" the kit MINUS the additional USB connectors, even after I had requested it repeatedly.

I'm actually attempting the install tonight and the instructions are piss-poor at best; the instructions from this website are FAR better than what he "provides" you with. (He doesn't provide you with drivers or installation instructions, just a piece of paper with the links typed on it.)

What kills me is he practically demands that you give him 5 stars or whatever on Ebay - of which I refuse to do as he is unresponsive after you pay. Needless to say I won't be giving him that great of a review.

I'm not impressed so far, needless to say.

 

he also give me a so call tracking number, but that's not working as well....

ken73, how do they ship out the package? was it registered or with tracking info?

 

Mine came through Hong Kong post, my wife said she had to sign for it. You should have a tracking number (starts with RA, has numbers, then HK at the end) - you can check the USPS.com website for updates once it gets to the US.

I installed mine here a few days ago; it works well and looks very nice but is a HUGE pain in the kazoo to get installed. The terrible instructions (if you could call them that) only gave you an "idea" of how to do it. The biggest pain is the touchscreen wire itself, getting it routed through the hinge. Otherwise it's not too terrible. Also, the black plastic "tape" that's used to tape up the wires has metal in it; I don't recommend reusing it where it may come in contact with any circuit boards; I found this out the hard way. I wrapped a little around the webcam wires and it would touch somewhere on the motherboard, rebooting the machine. Drove me crazy until I removed it and re-routed the wires. Now it works fine.

Next project is to put in a wireless-N card and install the bluetooth internally. I'm out of town and in a hotel so I don't have my soldering goodies with me right now, otherwise I'd have done it when I did the touchscreen.

 

totally agree about this company. Came up with loads of bs excuses and now his ebay and paypal account is suspended until he sends out all the customers waiting orders. I have waited close to a month for it - ordered it 22nd June and only got a genaral email to everyone with my tracking number and low and behold sent out on 14th July!

I ordered from another company Visual Touch World on 12th July and they dispatched on the 14th July, Guess which one turned up first! yes my second company order!

I am very very disgusted with Toptouchscreen, they dont answer your messages unless you bug them everyday till you get an answer (2weeks) and only acted when their account and money are on suspension. I have heard some customers have waited 40days plus.

Since I have waited so long I have put a paypal dispute see if it rushes things, but now I'm hearing some control modules are dead on arrival or after few hours!
