DOS works on an AA1 (my model: AOA150)

You can get the touchpad working and/or a USB mouse by loading mouse.com (some installations of DOS won't come with mouse.com and you'll have to find it.. somewhere.) I don't believe CTMOUSE works, but if it does, let me know.

If someone needs help dual-booting their AA1 with true DOS and can't make heads or tails of the online guides, let me know, but I used an external optical drive which will be different than someone forced to boot from a thumb drive

What threw me off, was that the AA1 must have legacy support, assuming a USB mouse works in DOS with no USB driver. This is strange, since if you look through the BIOS there is no mention of Legacy Support anywhere. I guess this means it is on by default, and not represented in any way in the BIOS. Isn't this strange?

The final question I have, now that I have a mouse-useable DOS, is to get working sound. I'm not really sure how to learn about the sound capabilities of my sound chipset. I remember the last time I tried this that the chipset is HDA (too new for DOS?) but also had ac97 support. I'm not overly sure what these things mean. Also, since the legacy support for a USB mouse seems to exist, yet isnt represented in the BIOS, I am curious is legacy sound support is also available, but hidden.

    I guess my questions are:
    1. How can I analyze my audio chipset to determine what its capacities are for eventual use in DOS? and
    2. How can I determine what the true legacy BIOS support is for the AA1 (AOA150) considering that the USB mouse thing was a total surprise?

    Update:

Ok, so the chipset is Intel ICH 7. I think? I used the program lspci in linux to identify it, since Device Manager and Belarc in Windows are somewhat, shall we say, vague and useless. Also, full spec lists of the AA1 are equally vague and incomplete on this matter. I seem to remember PC Wizard being equally vague. I'm not sure who the king is of hardware identification in Windows.

So, now I'm in search of making an ICH 7 audio chipset work in DOS, in one way or another. Correct me if I'm wrong!

If I manage to get the sound to work, I'll write a full guide to DOS on the AA1, which is just three things really (installation with a multi-boot with Linux and/or Windows, getting the mouse to work, and getting the sound to work (hopefully on the last one)).
