Do I need windows on the acer one to download msn messenger ?
if your using linpus, linpus has its own messaging program, that will connect to msn live. if you install windows xp/vista you will need to download live messenger
Stay with version 8.5 Microshaft gives you options as to which version you want to download and install. Or Google Messenger 8.5 and follow the link for that version. Versions higher than 8.5 seem to have had the ability to upload/download to a file share access that enables you to share pics and stuff with friends. 8.5 works great and includes this feature. My aspire One came with ver 4.4 preloaded, and it wanted a mandatory upgrade to work. If you let it choose, you will get the latest version of Messenger and it won't include the file sharing feature.
