I had to restore my Acer 257 13450 from a back up that I made a few days prior. For some strange reason, drivers for the wireless network were not part of the restore and I was left with no wirelees connectivity.

I called Acer support and was told to go to the driver download site to download the driver. There are three different wireless cards used in this model so I kept asking which driver is it and finally I was told to download the hardware ID tool posted on the site and it would identify the correct download for this model for me to select.

The tool improperly identified the wireless adapter as an Atheos and NOT the intel that I really had. At the time I did not know what card I had so I removed the bottom access door and found that an Intel adaper was installed. I spend well over an hour trying to figure this out and was ready to return the unit to the store when I decided to make this last check of the installed adapter physically. Glad I did. Once I loaded the Intel drivers, all was well.

If you have to update any drivers and have to use the automated ID tool, be cautious of the false results it could return. I called Acer support to notifiy them of this problem to which they only gave lots of lip service. Pathetic plastic support! BEWARE of this TOOL!
