Just fired up AA1 this morning, and it hasn't picked up DST clock change - I wondered if tzone was incorrect (US?), but it looks to be fine (dates below for clock change are correct), but clock has not adjusted ?? Any suggestions?

    [user@localhost ~]$ zdump -v /etc/localtime | grep 2008
    /etc/localtime Sun Mar 30 00:59:59 2008 UTC = Sun Mar 30 00:59:59 2008 GMT isdst=0 gmtoff=0
    /etc/localtime Sun Mar 30 01:00:00 2008 UTC = Sun Mar 30 02:00:00 2008 BST isdst=1 gmtoff=3600
    /etc/localtime Sun Oct 26 00:59:59 2008 UTC = Sun Oct 26 01:59:59 2008 BST isdst=1 gmtoff=3600
    /etc/localtime Sun Oct 26 01:00:00 2008 UTC = Sun Oct 26 01:00:00 2008 GMT isdst=0 gmtoff=0
    [user@localhost ~]$ date
    Sun Oct 26 09:51:00 GMT 2008
    (Actual time is 08:51 !!).

You are not alone. It is 10:12 here but my A1 still thinks summer time is active:

Just wondering if this is because I had set BIOS time to BST, should BIOS clock always be set to GMT ?

I've set BIOS clock to GMT now, so current time is shown correctly, so hopefully this will now switch back to BST properly in the spring on March 29th 2009 ?

That's probably relevant; my solution was to set the system clock from ntp servers, then set the hardware clock to the system time:

    Code:
    sudo ntpdate pool.ntp.org
    sudo hwclock --systohc
Note that the first command may lead to your screen going blank - pressing any key will restore it.

Actually, I think everything is set up correctly already - apart from the hardware (BIOS) clock.

My two line solution above sorts out the hardware clock (having first set the machine time correctly): much the same line appears at the link you quote.

Mine neither... but as a potentially dumb question... why did you not just go Preferences --> Date & Time to sort it?

(...or do I only think I've sorted it on mine...? :? )

Changing the date and time would work for now, but the system doesn't stand a chance of getting it right the next time the clocks change. If the relationship between the hardware clock and the timezone settings is right, it should just get it right in March without any fiddling around.

Incidentally, it's perhaps not just the One - all the posts in the forum are showing up as an hour late..... What time zone is the forum operating in?

    Same problem in OZ
I had thought the problem was that our DS day changed from the last to the first Sun in Oct
Too lazy to fix it I thought Id wait and it would update yesterday - but no
And it turns out /etc/localtime was correct after all.
I will now do the investigation I should have done earlier

I checked that my /etc/localtime was correct and successfully (?) updated according to daldred's:
(I had tried rebooting without the hwclock setting and it did indeed revert)

However the time displayed for this message in the Forum is still 1H off (GMT+10 rather than 11)
I presume that is my browser doing an incorrect convert during display as at the bottom of the forum page it says:
I kinda doubt that the system will automatically drop DST next year :?

Forum time here reads "UTC + 1 hr" (whether on the One or another machine); I assume that's being read from a setting on the forums themselves rather than anything to do with the One itself.

Good point - though it still doesn't explain why the DST didn't happen automatically on the One (?)

Huh, this have nothing to do with your OS. Change your timezone in your "User Control Panel"-> "Board preferences"-> "Edit global settings"-> "My timezone" on this board.

Thanks chchan, that seems to work :)
I thought I had checked it but now notice that there is a separate button to indicate DST rather than a simple locale setting.
Its a bit odd that the locales are so restricted when they are an inbuilt feature of Linux (which I presume this runs on)
