I have the Aspire one with XP home installed. I later added a dual boot to Kubuntu using the Grub boot loader. I decided that I wanted to remove the linux partition and use the acer recovery tool to restore the system to the off the shelf defaults. To accomplish this I deleted the active (linux) partition through windows and could not set the windows partition to active again. The computer was shut down and doesn't reboot due to an error from the Grub loader. How do I overcome this problem without an XP install disk, or just get the machine to boot up in windows for that matter?

It didn't come with a disk to boot from. I don't have an XP home install disk either. Can I boot from an XP pro install disk that came with a dell.

Any XP disk should work, as long as it allows you to exit out of the install. It should then drop you to a command prompt where you can type in "fdisk /mbr" I think F3 during the install will exit out of the install and give you the prompt.
