    Needed to reinstall Linpus. Using GParted, I shrunk the Windows partion. I had errors reported. I grew the partion, shrunk again until I no longer got errors. Now I Macrium Reflect doesn't see the unpartioned area I want to put my Limpus instal image!! Any help?

    Sorry to hear you're running into problems!

    I guess two things I'd try are:

    Within Windows, run checkdisk on the drive. Also, before resizing, you should make sure the hard drive is completely defragmented.

    Also, you might want to format the unpartitioned space within Windows, then open up Gparted again and delete the partition. I can't remember now, but maybe Macrium Reflect needs a blank partition rather than a Linux one.

    Easier Multi-boot based on "mercado79" original idea!

    I've stumbled on a MUCH easier way to do a triple boot.

    -http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ follow directions to make boot-able USB & choose "Parted Magic" (Clonzilla is also available WITH Parted Magic so you can back-up 1st!). This part is E-A-S-Y!

    -Then create a "Logical Partition". You need to do this because there will be more then 4 partitions in total. (I made 1 partition a data storage partition).

    -Then you go back into Windows XP & use the Linpus back-up mercado79 made with Macrium Reflect http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.asp

    -To be clear, you are shrinking XP, create a Logical Partition then putting Linpus in the UN-PARTITIONED area with Macrium Reflect. Choose "Logical Partition" again in Reflect & do NOT replace the boot-loader.

    -Boot up Parted Magic again, shrink Linpus to whatever you feel is good, most people would keep it small, under 10 gigs.

    This is where it gets easier -- when I installed Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix, (again in the UN-PARTITIONED AREA) Ubuntu recognized all three programs in it's boot-loader! So you just install Ubuntu, it will create a swap, partition the un-partitioned area & when you reboot, every OS option is available. Keep in mind there will be two MS options, the 1st is the recovery partition, the 2nd is Windows XP. You can go & edit /boot/grub/menu.lst to more accurately describe each OS choice.

    Worked just perfect !!!
    ;)

    @ABSDouwg
    Thanks !!!
    Your support on Grub just worked like a charm !!!
    ;)

    @ABSDoug.......

    Can you eloborate on the last post about the triple boot(adding Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix)
    While writing this post, I have already been downloading Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix in the background.
    By the time you return with a step-by-step....... for my request, the download should be done!

    .......Looking forward to continuing from Mercado79 Ext3 Partition reserved for Ubuntu !!!
    :?: :?: :?:

    Hoping its on the following lines...
    "by downloading UNR based on Ubuntu 9.04 as an IMG file [2], writing the IMG file to a USB Flash Drive[4] and then booting a netbook from that drive and selecting the install option."

    thanks in advance !!!

    Ok.......I couldn't resist attempting to install 'Ubunto Netbook Remix 9.04', and a. was successful at it !!!

    Ummmmmm.......pretty impressed with my new OS(Ubuntu) Primarily its simplicity, has so far held my interest and hopefully may continue so, going forward.......

    How achieved it...
    After installing Linpus Lite based on the directions from this thread, (with credits posted to the people in my previous post.) I downloaded the latest version of Ubuntu from the ubuntu site. I then used instructions as per their website and had my 1 GB thumb drive installed with the downloaded image ( which BTW works as portable Ubuntu OS - this was fantastic !!! ) when booted into the thumbdrive the Ubuntu OS was loaded. Later i followed the install option from within this booted (portable) OS and more or less was successful in installing Ubuntu as the 3rd OS, on my aspireone(However i hit a small snag whilst selecting the partition where i intended to install Ubuntu, with some persistent efforts here, i could cross over this point successfully installing my 3rd OS.)

    I don't know if its an issue, but when booting i get a list of OS's to choose from, where i can see a list, off which about 3 Options are there to choose - for Ubuntu OS, 2 options - for Windows OS and 1 option - for the Linpus lite OS. When i choose Winxp then it takes me to a second 'options' screen, this is the same screen with a choice to make between Win XP and Grub(assigned for Linpus Lite as per the instructions from this thread).

    JUST WANTED TO BE SURE IF THIS IS THE WAY IT SHOULD WORK OR HAVE I DONE SOMETHING DIFFERENTLY AND ENDED UP WITH THIS REDUNDANCY !!!

    Any help would be most appreciated. Infact, had it been the other way round it would have just been fantastic.

    If the intial boot could lead to the screen to choose between 3 OS's OPTIONS BETWEEN WinXP - Ubuntu - Linpus Lite.

    and on choosing Ubuntu it would've been great if it took me to a SECOND screen with the 3 Ubunt specific options along with the command line options.

    Can this happen??? If yes! then that would make my options screen even more clean.

    Waiting for someone to post a workaround or correction that can be applied to achieve what may be a normal state !!!

    thanks once again.
