Does anyone here dualboot Linpus and XP on the AAO A110?
What i try to achive is something similar to asus express gate (splashtop), in other words, i would like to have a VERY fast boot option that only lets me use a browser, instant messeging (msn) and prehaps some kind of media player. The main object though is to have the fastest boottime possible. If i could get under 10 sec i would be happy. To clearify, this bootoption would dualboot with XP, to do hevier stuff.

I've had my eyes on TinyME and Damn Small Linux, but I'm not that good with Linux. I would only like to see these 2 or three icons (large icons) to be able to rapidly check something on internet or talk to friends without waitin a minute and a half to bot xp.

Can Linpus be configured to remove unwanted applications, icons and stuff to get what i want? I've tried searching for a linpus xp dualboot guid, but frankly, the search function is'nt that good...

Hope someone can help me and understands what i'm trying to do.

(I'm aware of the fact that ASUS expressegate runs directly from BIOS, so i can't achive the same boottime as that, but i would like a similar interface)

Linpus boots within seconds about 15-20.
Returning from standby in Linpus is 10 seconds.
Linpus can be configured to add/remove icons and applications.
    Dual boot is possible, but......
As you can boot from USB pendives (with live OS) there are endless boot optiions.
You can aslo install XP on an external drive.

    Yes, you could try this.......

    Booting

Read the XP threads, to avoid XP lagging from the SSD.
Add a 16gb SDHC chip to the left slot.

BTW I would disagree that XP is always the best do the heavy stuff. What specific items do you mean?

Don't get me wrong, I now that Linux is a very good thing if you now what you're doing. But i don't..... Sure I can follow a guide in doing stuff in Linux, but beeing raised with MS products all from 3.11 to vista, I know windows like the back off my hand. Beeing a parttime worker, univeristy student and semi-pro soccer player, I just don't have the time to learn Linux, though I would surly want to. My worst problem with linux is the network bit. Running a small home network with 5 computers and a couple of diffrent servers, I would have to know a good bit in linux before i would get it to work properly. Frankly I don't have the time to learn, but I also think I'm a bit too lasy to understaand linux enviorments.

Regarding the first topic, I'm already running nLited XP on my One. On disk size of 1,1 GB and uses about 50 gb ram on startup. In other words, i know the windows bit....

But thanks for the tread tip. I will most likely try it out. My biggest concern is the dual boot. Should i have to use GRUB or some other bootloader to get it working? I have once triple booted a macbook pro with OS X, Ubuntu and Vista, and i remeber I used a nice bootloader with nice pictures and stuff.... Don't remeber the name of it though...

That's cool, we all make our own choices.

You will need something like grub, I have not seen any multiboot options in BIOS other than to specific devices CD, USB etc
