    1. Can the AAO with XP play HD DVR-MS files?
    2. Is the AAO fast enough to stream DVR-MS from my other PC?
    3. Any good USB TV Tuners for the AAO? (for ATSC, mainly if 2. is no)

I'd love to get one of these not only for internet but simple gaming and streaming files from my desktops TV tuner!

I've got my desktop running Windows Media Center and I record in the dvr-ms format from their all the time, so I also was looking for the answer to this question. After getting my AAO, I tried a number of free codec downloads, but none could read this format. I ended up buying a plugin from cyberlink. It was only $15 and saved me the hassle of scouring the net further for just the right set of free codecs. My AAO plays HD dvr-ms flawlessly now. I even use an SSH to stream the tv signal from my desktop. Here is the link in case you are interested. I hope this helps.

Yes, it can, that is what I use now. But without the required plugins, all you will get is the sound. The AAO, like most new computers these days, doesnt come with mpeg4 decoder installed.

What do you use to stream from your desktop? I use orb.com, just curious about what else is available.

Interesting, either I'm tripping or I was just wrong, I swear I used to watch DVR-MS in WMP, but now it only works with audio, weird.

I actually don't stream anything yet, my desktop is my only PC, but thanks for the links, looks great, I will make sure to try this out once I get my AAO (or maybe I'll borrow my dad's laptop and see how it works! [IMG])

EDIT: I did try it on my dad's laptop and TV streaming was actually pretty good, but DVR-MS streaming video was great, but there was either no audio or really bad stuttering or messed up audio. :? I exceed all the requirements too.

I am bumping this old thread because I now have my AAO and have finally had the chance to try out DVR-MS streaming, my results are:

Connecting to my other PC by typing in \\PCNAMEHERE\\ in Explorer, opening in Windows Media Player: I've got this to work amazingly well only once, every other time is very slow stuttering sound and video. Although I had just tried it right now and it works great, although its because I set the CPU to dynamic and the priority of the wmplayer.exe process to high.

Using Orb: Just as bad as above just with bad video quality too.

    Registered to post this:

If you install the free K-Lite (Full) codec pack (google it), and select the optional FFshow MPEG2 codec during install WMP will play DVR-MS streaming over wireless G with no skipping on my AAO 1gb 8GB XP model.
