Hello All, I spent some time with my AAO this week trying to find the best distro and easiest install. After testing Ubuntu Hardy Heron, Intrepid Ibex, and the Netbook Remix I moved to Mandriva 2009 KDE and finally to Mandriva 2009 Gnome. The steps I followed were a bit of a conglomeration of guides found online. So, I thought someone in a similar situation might find this little guide helpful. Thanks to L'Ordikc and all others who have developed these tools. It made a novice like me enjoy installing Mandriva. One other brief note: I partitioned my hard drive with a small JFS partition for /boot, a 500 MB linux swap, and a large main JFS partition at /. So far the JFS system is running circles around my previous Ext3 set up. Good luck to all!
