I just bought a new acer aspire one 10.1. I loaded vlc player and attempted to watch a video. The audio is echoing a lot and I can barely hear the voices of the people in watching. What's going on? Is this a known issue? It's brand new purchased from staples so it has windows xp. Thanks in advance.

Using iTunes and/or WMP to view movies I can hear a bit of an echo in voices - it sounds as though I am hearing an actual studio recording. But it is not extreme. I do not currently have VLC installed, so I can't speak to that. Although others here do use VLC and I have not heard a similar complaint. -N

I also have this echo problem. It occurs in iTunes, Windows Media Player, Firefox, IE. In short, all sound is distorted. I have tried headphones, external speakers, turning various equalizers on and off to no avail.

I am getting the samething, though I think it's better described as "tinny".

Add me to the list. I am getting the same issue. I am going to look at it in more detail over the next couple of days. Has anyone come up with a solution? It may force me to return my Aspire One. I use it for a particular application that requires that the sounds be better that the "tinny" sound with echo.

I was able to fix the voice echoing by turn off the karaoke button in the Realtek sound control screen and the sound track became normal. The speakers are not great on this unit, but ok with the earphones.....

    Good luck
