Does anyone know how to enable a full right-click menu on the XFCE panel; it's easy enough to launch the 'add items to the panel' dialogue to add new launchers, but not being able to edit existing ones is a pain...?

I think some existing stuff (but not all) can be edited while the "add items" dialogue box is open. (I'm using Gnome now, so can't confirm.)

I was struggling with the same problem, but I figured it out.

    Open terminal and type
    Code:
    xfce4-panel -a
When the box opens, drag and drop your existing launcher in to the box and create a new one! :D

Edit as in delete and start again ;)

I think Fedora 10 (xfce) is the answer... have it booting off a USB fine; think will take leap and install.

Well I tried Fedora 10 and on a base-spec AA1, even with SSD optimisation, it was too slow. Back to Linpus; am very pleased to see it again - so fast. I'll learn to live with the launcher bar not having a right click.

I found that the delete/start again method was the only way to 'edit' panel items. I have now added a panel launcher to the far right hand side with the command 'xfce4-panel -a' to make give a slighly more straightforward feel to editing panels.

Hope this little tip works for you too.
