ERecovery doesnt work

I have the Acer Aspire One 8.9 inch with the 160gb hard drive.... i wanted to do a clean install, *got some bad programs* and when i would try to use the recovery software *no cd drive*on the pc it acts like its going to restore...reboots...and then the same stuff i had before i restored it is still there.
