I just picked up a D150 and would like to reinstall xp from the recovery partition. When I click the icon I get an error message....

    eRecoveryUI.exe fatal error
    CLR error:80004005

When I look at the partitions I can see both the PQSERVICE and C: partitions. They are both formatted to NTFS. I have an older unit where the PQSERVICE partition is FAT32. I doubt that's the cause of the error. Has anyone seen this? is it possible to copy the hidden partition from my old unit to this one. It's acting real flakey and needs a re-install. Any ideas?

    TIA

Try downloading and installing / reinstalling the .NET Framework from Micro$oft, according to a simple google search for your error, the majority of replies state that it's a .NET problem.

Thanks Swarvey. I thought maybe it was an acer related problem. I should have searched the universe and not just this site for that error. It took awhile to find a utility to completely delete the .NET framework. Finally found something that worked. Re-installed .NET and the unit's acting better and now allows access to the eRecovery utility. I've attempted to create backup disks. It burns the first disk to 100% and then just sits there. No message that it needs another disk inserted or anything. It appears there's no way to get all disks created. There must be something still messed up.

Sounds like your best bet might be to backup your files etc, then run D2D recovery from the BIOS screen instead. Can't tell you the key to press at boot-time as I've wiped my entire hard drive in favour of a real backup solution. i.e one that doesn't usurp my hard drive space.

Pretty sure at the BIOS splash screen it mentions pressing a F-key to enter recovery mode.

Needless to say, once the recovery is complete, try creating some backup disks from a fresh, working install.
