    Hi All,
I currently have an Acer Aspire One Model ZG5 (8.9") with Windows XP Home. I recently tried the Alt+F10 recovery because it was not working properly and I wanted to get it back to factory default settings. It made it through the recovery process, but unfortunately not all the way! After the Windows screen appears at the beginning that allows you to select boot options it goes to an all blue screen that says, STOP: c000021a (Fatal System Error) and continues to try and restart itself with no luck.

I do not have a boot CD. I do however have a brand new Aspire One that a family member recently purchased that also has Windows XP Home edition. How can I get my model working properly? I'm somewhat of a noob when it comes to this, but I'm hoping there might be a way to create a bootable USB drive off the new Aspire One and use it on the busted one?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I don't know where you are at or how old your AA1 is but I would suggest calling the Acer support and telling them your recovery is not working and they should send you the disk. Of course you will need a CD/DVD drive that way but it should fix the problem. BTW Acer phone number is 866-695-2237 for U.S. customers

Called Acer and they're sending me the discs...$23 later. They said it should work...now I just have to get an external USB drive.

Slick operating by Acer! The early Aspire Ones had so many problems that Acer GAVE the recovery discs away FREE for awhile. Sometimes it just took more than one complaint call to a different rep and that one would send out the discs for free. Now it's almost impossible to get them for free. Threaten them with very bad press for problems caused by them and then them NOT fixing (under warranty) for free. In the old days, real OS system discs were provided. Now most computers ship with "recovery" discs or recovery partitions on the hard drive. Obviously Acer has problems with that also as you are not the first to complain about it not working.
