Erecovery reinstalled via spare aspire one

i can not boot from the recovery partion with out using a usb key with something like grub on it.

can any oen help me fix it so the laptop can use the stock recovery with out removing the drive.

the only idea i have is to remove my wifes drive she has a pink aspire, doing a complete clone and copy to the blue one i have..


does any one know of software that can be booted from say a usb drive and used to clone her complete drive then plugged into my computer for a "restore"

i used somthing like this from dos called ghost but havnt in a long long time..

i did find this after i googled

but im not sure if i copy my wifes recovery partion only and write it back to my laptop will i be able to boot from the recovery partion with alt+f10?

ok so here is what im about to try

i just downloaded ghost and im made a compressed ghost file of the recovery partion.

its 3.7 gigs

now im putting it on a 4 gig usb drive.


i have a smaller usb stick that boots and has ghost on it.


my idea is to rewrite the complete recovery partion with the recovery partion image from my wifes computer.

what do you guys think???

ok i know im just talking ot my self here

i was able to (with the computer running make a good copy of my wifes recover partion and extract it to a folder using ghost file explorer.

anyone want a copy

ill update you as to weather i was able to doa restore from the resotr partion or not

nope the drive restored but the boot loader must be a differant part im missing

woot i have resolved my issue using norton ghost dos partion magic and and two usb drives.



unfortunatly my external drive is only a laptop 20 gig i put in a cheep ebay case.

first I booted from a 1 gig fat16 usb stick
i did a drive copy using ghost (you have to check the boot image option) or the drive wont boot.



In my case the drive isnt large enough for me to fit windows on it as well
So I used partion magic and deleted the "acer" partion from the external drive.

Plug the boot stick and external drives into the computer to be fixed

Now all i have is the boot information and ERecovery partition on my external USB sdrive.

Boot from usb stick and Run Ghost for DOS.
do a Disk to Disk source is the external and destination the 120-160 gig acer hard drive.


Once copy is completed reboot from usb memory stick

open partion magic and create a partion after the acer recover partion.
(also dont forget to set the partion ot primary or once E recovery is done restoring to the C: drive it wont boot.)
exit partion magic.

reboot and make sure d2d recovery is one

press Alt + F10


Erecovery should start up!

i think i might just turn my ERecovery external disk into a ghost image and upload a few torrents

 

well i just made a gho file from the recovery drive with boot once i get it on my server i will post torrent links

btw it is 4 gigs (compressed ghost file)
