Have an Acer Aspire One 8.9" with Linux Linpus Lite.

When I plug in a wired/ethernet connection, it doesn't show up. The lights on the jack light up, but it won't show up on the lower right in the task bar as connected.

I've tried 3 separate networks, no luck.

    Anybody else having this issue?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    Can you go on internet?

you can use following steps to check your ip address.
    1. Click "ALT+F2"
    2. Enter "terminal"
    3. Enter "su -"
    4. Type your root password, it was setup by user.
    5. Type "ifconfig", check eth0, if you can get some valus such as 192.168 or xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, you should be able to use internet.

Regarding icon issue, did you reboot your system? I don't know how to fix that, just want to help you to go on internet

    Thanks,

    I tried that, I get this;

    [root@localhost ~]#

I can access via the wireless, it just won't connect via cable. Some of the places I travel to only have wired internet. So that can be a bummer.

Bump......Anybody have any ideas that might help?

I'm thinking of getting a ethernet to usb adapter. Anyone know if there might be a driver download required or just plug and play?

    Thanks.
