I've been contemplating installing OSX on my one. Really the only thing stopping me is the need to swap wifi cards...call me sentimental or whatever, im attached to my atheros card.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone tried this link

    http://www.orangeware.com/endusers/wirelessformac.html

First thing that popped up when i googled. Its just a trial, but if it works, id buy it over swapping hardware out in a heartbeat.

anyone wanna give it a go?

the wireless driver for mac on this page are only for mac os 10.4 and lower not for 10.5.x

    quote from the faqs

Is your Wireless Driver supported under Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)?
We do not support Mac OS X 10.5 and are not planning an upgrade.

hey guys not sure if this has been noted yet i can't get OSX to recognize large hard drives when i plug them in while the OS is running. if i plug in a flash drive, it work fine. the only way it works is if i boot it up with the usb hard drive already plugged in. what gives...anyone else with similar problem/solution?

Just a reminder: mackerintel does not have a AAO and he's not for certain this will not work on the AAO. Has anyone actually tried this? (I don't have OS X installed currently.)

This technique was not successful to me (AAO A150). I'm not going to change WiFi adapter, but I'm waiting for more ideas.

    Hi all,

    By following the instructions at:

    http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=138351

I was able to activate and use Wifi card that comes with the aspire one. In fact, I wrote this with OS X on my One using the Wifi connection with the stock Wifi card. It took a bit of fiddling but once you find how to use Kismac I was able to get Wifi working.

    Hope this helps.
    Regards

I read through that post and I don't understand all of it, prolly because I am not a computer guy....you have to dual boot to get this factory card to work w/ osx? huh?

Atheros make cards AR5006EG, AR5006EX with chip AR5424 and cards AR5006EGS, AR5006EXS with chip AR5423
In the AR5++++ series cards they use (at least) chips AR 2423, 2424, 5414, 5423, 5424.
It's easy for the unwary to get confused.
MsiWind forum claims that AR5BXB6 card with AR5424 chip works for them (OS-X).
My card is AR5BXB63 and reports its chip as AR242x. It does not work,

Search eBay or wherever for "apple AR5BXB6", yes the genuine Apple spare part for MacBook.
Non-Apple parts are reported to often not work, which sounds like Apple still onto its old
tricks of firmware hacks. I saw one guy claiming you can flash the firmware on these cards
to OEM requirements, but the link he gave was broken, and I haven't chased further.

You got OS-X wifi, you should be so lucky ;)

Madwifi http://madwifi-project.org/ have an OpenHAL kernel module for most every Atheros chipset.
Now, if any keen coder would like to rewrap that as a mach-o kext :?

I just want to report that the Dell DW1505 WiFi card (DP/N 0MX846 Rev A02) works beautifully under OS X and WinXP on the AAO. This card is dual band (2.4, 5 GHz) a/b/g/draft-n compatible. Those looking for something faster than the 1390/1490 may want to consider this one.
