    Hey folks,

First post so I hope this is in the right place. My expansion slot on my 8GB ZG5 seems to have a black dummy card inside it and I can't seem to pop it out.

Could I get a bit of help?

    Cheers!

I assume you tried pushing it IN, in order to get it to spring out, correct?
If it doesn't come out, you may need to return your unit.

Yes, is it ordinary to have a dummy card in there? Seems odd when the rest are empty.

No way to tease it out?

    Thanks for the help.

Good point. Generally speaking, it's not uncommon to have a dummy in a slot, but now I come to think of it, I'm fairly sure my Acer didn't come with one. (I purchased both an EeePC and Aspire One recently, and I think only the EeePC had a dummy card.)

I thought it was odd. There is space underneath this possible dummy card. I take it it's not the right idea to shove it in underneath?

Do any Linux models not come with the expansion? Perhaps it's blocked up intentionally.

Again, if anybody has a tip on how to tease it out overcome what I've read are pretty poor tolerances on the springs.

Sorted. A nail file under the dummy and pushed all the way back clicked the dummy out.

Thanks for the help meng. I think I'll be hanging around these parts for a little longer.

I had the same thing with my Acer Aspire 9300-5005 and found that when you push in you have to (while it is pushed in) push either up or down and I can't ever remember which so I try both and it works but is a hassle.
