could someone recommend an external CD/DVD burner that will allow me to boot my Aspire in Dos mode? I am using Norton Ghost 2003 and an LG portable drive model GP08LU10 at (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 8007087415 ) and it does not load in DOS, even though I have changed the boot order to force it to load from CD drive. This drive works fine after WinXP loads, but I want to do recovery in DOS mode with Ghost 2003. I checked with LG tech support but they say no driver for DOS mode. Thanks for all your help. Sissi.

I've been using a Philips DVD8631/96, which was retired from another PC when it appeared to have given up the ghost (not NORTON GHOST).

I'm not sure how you'd test it, but it seems to boot my Acronis TrueImage CD without any problem.

I'm a little confused, Are you trying to boot from your CD drive or are you trying to detect it in Disk Operating System?
