Can anyone help please? I am experiencing a problem with my AAO in that when I plug in my Qubz USB DVD RW disc drive 9 times out of ten the netbook freezes. No keyboard operation or mouse pad operation. Only option is to perform a hard reset using the power button for 5 secs. Does anyone have exerience of anything similar? or can they suggest what I can do to rectify. The disc drive is brand new and only used about 6 times since December. I have tried powering the disc drive both via the usb port and via the mains adaptor. System is XP

I second that, try it in another machine, preferably a desktop.

One query though, is the drive you're using a USB only drive? or does it have it's own AC lead? if USB only, are you using the USB drive whilst on AC Power? or on battery?. I've read reports that the amperage output of the USB ports is severely lowered whilst on battery only, which COULD manifest itself in the problems your having.

DVD drive has a usb power cable as well as a mains power cable so that you can choose which to use. I have tried a different usb port as well as both on battery and mains. Yes I did get this via the amazon web site. Hope this helps

Have you tried connecting it via a powered USB hub?
    - that is what I am thinking of doing if I get an external device

Looking for some more help with this issue. The drive seems to be causing the Aspire One to Freeze more and more frequently. It seems to be as soon as you insert a disc and close the tray. I am concerned that constatntly having to shut the netbook down using the power button is going to cause some extreme damage to the harddrive. I have tried the Qubz website but no real information here.

Your drive came with the mains lead, but are you using it?
