External DVD drive detected in bios but won't work?

    Hi - My uncle asked me to help him fix his netbook, as it wouldn't boot into Windows XP anymore. I'm trying to use my Samsung S084C, which I connect fine using USB. The bios can detect it, but when I put it at the top of the boot order, it simply tries to load into Windows.

    Does anyone know why this is happening?
