I just received my Linux AA1 and love it. I wanted an external mouse, so I went to Office Depot and found a Kensington Slimline that I liked. I did not buy it because the clerk looked at the package and saw that it mentioned Vista and Mac, but not Linux, so he told me it would not work with a Linux OS. Is that true?

It is highly unlikely that it wouldn't function in Linux. All the packaging means is that it has been tested and the manufacturer "guarantees" it will work with the listed operating systems. For something as common as a USB mouse you can be near 100% certain that it will work in Linux (at least to basic functionality).

I picked up a very nice Logitech VX Nano 450 and it plugged with in, worked instantly and all buttons worked.

I just wish the Backspace key was the default 'back' in firefox, the the wheel-left would work as well.

I didn't load any special drivers or change anything for it to work.

Have got a Tesco "Technika" wireless mouse (with USB dongle) for £7.50. Works fine with machine.. no configuration no hassle...
small batteries (no recharge dock etc) but cheap as chips and works well.

    I'll second that.
    Infact I've bought 2.
One for my AAO ( I can't get on with trackpads), and the other for my notebook to replace the useless Microsoft trackball that keeps jamming because it needs constant cleaning !!

I've learned to check the Internet first to see if a piece of hardware will work with Linux. More times than not, it does, but I would never expect to see Linux listed on the package.

Case in point: I run Ubuntu and I just bought a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Laser Mouse 5000 and had it working in 5 minutes. I did not even bother to check the packaging for Linux compatibility. I just searched the web and found several instances where the mouse was working for people. So I assumed I could get it to work.

BTW, I am really happy with the mouse.

It is such a good match to the looks of my white AAO110!

I have a Logitech Cordless Optical Trackman which does not plug and play in into Linpus Lite.

What driver/software should I download to use it?

I use a Logitech VX Nano and I am very pleased with it. The USB receiver is extremely small and barely sticks out at all.

I don't think you could find a mouse that didn't work with Linux. All mice are effectively USB or PS2 (pretty rare nowadays) and any USB mouse will work. If it has lots of buttons there may be a bit of fiddling around to get them all recognised but any normal mouse will work fine on any OS.

    Here's what I am using:

    Mini bluetooth adapter ($8.60 USD)):
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11825
** Be carfeful which adapter to buy as not all are as flush fitting as this one. **

    Mini bluetooth mouse ($18.44 USD):
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16090

I looked at other wireless mice, but this adapter is bluetooth, so I can use it for other things like a keyboard, etc....
Please let me know if there are better options, but like I said, for the price, with free shipping, these rock!!
I am using mine with XP, but it is supposed to work with Linux as well.
