    Hi guys,

Since i got my hands on the Aspire One last week, i've been quiete busy trying out all-kinds of Linux Distrobutions, in order to find the best boot/functionality distrobution (<40 secs).

I am pretty impressed with eeePCLinuxOS since, everything works straight from the LiveUSB launcher, and it boots up pretty quick.
This evening i am checking out Yoper (http://www.yoper.com/), which claimed to be the fastest distro according to most sites.

Would be nice to share thoughts on this one.
Or is everyone just happy just having Ubuntu?

    Cheers,
    Tony

I'm not much off a Ubuntu fanatic, however I really installed my share of it ;) and I was even thinking of installing it on the ONE. But since I heard/read that it only last for +/-2h on battery's I abandoned the idea. This because it doesn’t support the Atom and his power management, nor is it optimized with the intel Moblin suite. (and not all other hardware has decent support...)

I also tried to get Slax going on the ONE without success, but since it doesn’t support the atom either, I have no further interest and I’m guessing Yoper doesn’t support it either … however if that is no objection for you and you have a spare usb stick just give it a try … I would very much like to know what youre experience was with it

You might also be interested in this: http://www.umpcportal.com/2008/07/whos-next-on-the-moblin-distribution-list/ but it seams Linpus is the only one who has a downloadable distro who supports it at this moment.... (for as far as I could find anyway)

Does that mean WiFi, SD card readers and sound all work without tweaking ?

I tried Fedora on mine, installed the F9 XFCE remix from live USB. I figured since Linpus was based on Fedora, it might work. It booted, but neither wifi nor the wired ethernet adapter worked out of the box. I didn't stick around long enough to test sound, SD support etc.

I would like to try Puppy. The current version, Puppy 4, doesn't work completely, but the developers are trying to get everything working for 4.1. See discussion here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=225214&sid=991530e1ea6699c6a7c84f18e52ddf25
