I need a little help with a possiable fan issue here. Since the AOD250 seems to use a completely different BIOS than all the other fan problems threads, I thought it was okay.

When the computer first posts the fan goes into full speed.

If the computer is cold it shuts completely off after post, and doesn't come on until the OS(Ubuntu or WinXP) is loaded.

On a warm boot the fan is on and stays on.

After suspend/resume it still depends on if the machine is warm or not.

Problem. Both Windows and Ubuntu 9.4 seem to run the same speed all the time. And never go to the max speed during BIOS post.

Is this normal? I built and tried to install the acerfan module but modprobe gives "no such device" error. So I think it's at least a different device. But seems a little like it's BIOS controlled.
    Thanks
