I have the 120 gb model with old bios. fan control 1.1 did not work for me, I had problems with machine switching off. How can I uninstall the 1.1 completely? so that I can get ready to install next version. thanks for all the help. I love my machine and your 1.0 version was awesome. waiting eagerly for the new version

    delete the exe.

Run "msconfig" and uncheck the program from starting up, or go to the key in the registry and delete it.

Does 1.4 suppose to work with all BIOS versions? Which BIOS does your test machine have?

I just had my first "shutdown" with BIOS 3114, but I'm not all positive that the fan control program caused it.

    Hi all. :)

@LoveTheOne: could you let us know what's new/different in v1.4?

    Hello!

I changed a lot in Version 1.4 ... it now reads out the biosversion ... version <1.4 didn´t do that.
So it now uses different settings for different bioses.

Can anybody tell me if 1.4 is working with bios<v0.3301 now?
    Please be so kind.

Don´t test it with a downgraded bios ... as i did ... all versions were running on my machine without problems.

    Thank you!

    Ralf

    Hello Ralf,

I just upgraged my bios to the latest v3305 and downloaded your latest version 1.4. Everything seems to be working fine. I'll let you know if I run into any issues with the fan control software.

Thanks again for your work. The fan control program is fantastic!

Get http://arnowelzel.de/download/aaocontrol-0.1.zip. When using this tool without parameters, you will see, which parameters you can use.

    E.g.:

Fan Off - aaocontrol write 0x55 0xaf (tested with BIOS 3.104, 3.301 and 3.304 - don't know about other BIOS versions)
Fan Auto - aaocontrol write 0x55 0x00 (should work always)

Note: When returning from suspend or hibernate the BIOS will turn the fan on again. So a shortcut on the deskop etc. can be handy.

I work on a tool with GUI etc. and MSR reading for the CPU temperature instead of using the EC to avoid acpiec errors. Stay tuned.

    Hello,

Could you change the speed of the fan? when i use with this software the fan is louder than without the soft.
Should be a "always on on low rpm" switch.
    Thanks

V1.4 didn't seem to work on my A110, bios v.1.3305. The fan continuously switched on and off in rapid succession without passing the threshold.

I'm getting the same thing. It spins up, then down, then up, then down about 1 second apart without actually hitting any thresholds (upper or lower)

Same is happening to my fan. I thought my Aspire one was knackered but it must be the software.

    Phew

The software to make the fan silent gives me a pain in the stomach. I risked to install this software once but it didn't work. It was a while ago though. Before I tried to install it I read the "readme.txt" which said that wrong settings may damage your computer so it took a while for me to think. I wish there was a way of getting the fan silent in another way (not installing any software) even though the fan noise doesn't bother me much. :?
