    Some One are really noisy.
I dont found an ultimate hardware hack to fix the problem.
But, the software solution is working.

The fan is soldered or can be replaced? Maybe we can simply buy a silent fan and replace the noisy one... Acer should recall all of them and provide a solution :(

PS: I am happy with the software solution, no complaints.

the heatsink/fan unit is held on by 3 screws. It is sold as one unit. I would much prefer a larger fan that spins slower, that would have been fine. Or maybe even have grille holes on the bottom open so it can draw in cool air? Maybe it is trying to use the holes by the speakers for fresh air but I don't think it is very effective if that is the case.

The fan is very good quality, there is problem with the design of the heatpipe. Acoustic problem.

If I understand the following datasheet properly, the maximum operating temperature is 90C.

    http://download.intel.com/design/proces ... 320032.pdf

As the CPU never gets anywhere near that limit I run my AAO with the fan off all the time. :)

Hopefully the other components can also handle the heat. :?

This does sound fairly high. :?
Let's hope your new AAO is quieter and cooler. ;)
    Please keep us informed. :)

Would be great if somebody can compare from hardware's point of view a quiet AAO and a noisy one. I do not understand why some are quiet and some not, if the fan is good quality and the acoustic design is the same for both

    70°C is a good limit.

ccwh, how long would you say your AAO would have to run at 100% CPU to reach that temperature?

55C idle, 67C after having played an xvid movie full screen (KMPlayer, SRS AudioSandbox).
Personally I doubt the implementation of the cooling system in the AAO more than the quality/maturity of the intel atom micro processor. ;)

With Cpu at 100% the temperature increase more than 70°C on a fanless one. For me it's not the good solution...

I use AA1Ctrl who allow a very slow fan speed. With this speed i never reach the temperature of 70°C. The difference with auto fan (very noisy with my one) and slow speed is only 2°C !
At 100% CPU time i never reach 70°C with slow fan speed. I stay bellow . Confirmed after 1 hour with 100% CPU Time.
It's a good solution. AA1FanControl 0.9 was the first to introduce this important feature.

If you use the One during a long time the temperature reach 60°C - 63°C with no software fan control. The difference is very low (but not the noise).
I use speedfan (4.35) to check my temperature. Tips: You need only to add 6°C to have the same temperature as AA1Ctrl..
For exemple, in auto fan, my one cannot reach a temperature bellow 50-52°C (5-10% cpu time). So, a mix of fanless (bellow a certain temperature - 60-62°C ) and after a slow speed to maintain the one just bellow 70°C is good for me. AA1Ctrl allow if required (for exemple over 72-73°c) to use the autofan mode to cool the one. I never reach this temperature. I only set this temperature for safety.

My desktop PC (Athlon x2) is some time near 70°C too (Flight Simulator X is playing for exemple, or a long exportation session in Lightroom) and i have no risk to damage your PC. The high temperature alarm in my Bios is set (by default) to 70°C.

It's only important to check the temperature of hardrive. Too high temperature are not good (over 50°C), but in my one i never reach this temperature.

    Hi all,
I am running Core Temp 0.99.3 on my Aspire AOA150 (Bios 3304, XP 120G), temp reading is directly from the Atom processor (CPU MSR), mine generally idles at 55C - 60C, surfing the web and light use 60C - 65C seen as high as 80C under full load.

I waiting on development of the Fan Control SW so it reads the temperature from the CPU MSR and no ACPIEC errors, fan noise is acceptable on my "One" and certainly quieter than my latitude 620, that being said I like the option to customize the fan settings and shut down the fan when temperature allows.

I'd advise you to wait a bit before you try it, the developper seems to be making good progress recently. ;)
