Thanks, great tool! :D - Looking for this since i get my aa1 150x last week.

For your information: i get different temp. infos from the tool "notebook control", the temp differs 5 degrees less then your tool. Don't know why - but it works :D :D

Thank you very much for this, it works superb! :D

Shows 4* higher temps than "RealTemp" and 20* lower than "CoreTemp", I hope the real temp is closer to 60* than 80* :

    Thanks again!

Thanks for the excellent utility. Just a question, when installing the TvicPortInstall, there are 6 or 7 different programming lang. options (VB, C+, Borland, etc..) just to be a minimalist, is there ONE that I should select to use your software, instead of selecting them all?

    Thanks again,

Thanks for making this program. I have been bothered by the fan of the AA1 ever since i got it. So i have been testing this program for a while now and i find it strange how the fan is eather off or it is on but only on what i belive is the lowest rpm possible.

I would like the program to be able to make the fan run faster when needed to.

example: running orthos now to make the comp hot. I have set the fan control to 65C but the cpu is 74C and the fan is not blowing as fast as it could be doing. I would estimate it to be on its lowest rpm possible. In this scenario i would like the fan to go to higher rpm untill the temp is down to 65C and then settle for the optimal rpm to keep the temp where i have set it.

    Thanks.

Just installed it and it works nice.. no mor Linux crap for making it silent :p.

But i also noticed, that the Fan won't speed up to it's maximum speed while the fan control is running.. even if the AA1 begins to "burn".. i had 72°C at maximum but the fan was not speeding up.. jus trunning slowly.. and i think it's a bit too hot ^^.

    Same here.
But first of all - BIG BIG THANK for that software !!!
I do not need to go on searching a replacement fan :)

Is it possible to let the fan speed up to max when the cpu gets really hot (or reaches a defined temp)?
Would it be hard to code?
Under extreme conditions the slow fan might not be strong enough to keep it cool.

It's almost too quite, the only noise I can hear is the soft hum from the larger external LCD I've got connected to the AA1, that and the occasional hard-disk ticking :)

I must say I've noticed the same as the other folks, when the fan kicks in runs at a very low RPM (compared to how it was prior to loading the software), so I've configured it to kick in at 55C and it seems to handle things about fine for general purpose web browsing. However I'm a bit concerned if this is sufficient for more intensive apps. When I lower the fan setting to 50C while the CPU is 55C, the fan speed still operates at a low RPM and doesn't show any sign of speeding up. I wonder if this is related to BIOS version? The bios release notes list several changes to the fan mapping tables. In case it helps, I'm using the stock BIOS that came with the A150 which in my case is System BIOS version 0.3114

i have a question.. i posted eailier about 2 acer one with *always* ON Fan problem
it was XP 1G 120GB version from microcenter..

    my questions are

    1. by settiing threadhold at 70C. isn't it kinda HOT for everyday use? (putting on your lap and type a report)
also untimately.. shortening the life of CPU?

    2. i tried RM clock on A1 but current RM clock can't identify the atom processor, it that normal? also can't read CPU temperature, Frequency etc.. either..

I really liked A1 alot.. except that annoying battery comsuming FAN.

Do you know a program/utility to see CPU speed? ,
i think my A1's Atom was full blast 1.6Ghz all the time, cauing fan to run...draining battery..

It should be ok, since Intel says it's designed to operate from 0-99°C. If it's unconfortably hot on your lab just turn it down, mine ist at 62° right now.
    yes, it's a new processor

yes, CPU-Z. that one works with the Atom

    Thanks for your reply..

so with 67C it is okay to use it on your lab? my current lappy has Core Solo ULV CPU and Avg tem is around 50C and it is comfortable and of course, Fan does not kick in which saves battery life.

i know it is thermal despensate design which will ultimately decide the hot/warmness of laptop i just wanted to know how it is with A1 before i give it a try one more time.

Okay, so no one bothered to answer my question; but WOW! I'm getting almost eight hours of battery life with the fan turned off. What results do you guys have?

    Hey Ralf, great Tool anyways.

We just tested it on the machine (A110L - no bios update) of a friend. But the area where it says "0.9 beta" and shows the cpu/fan temperature are completly whited out. In order to find out the values you have to scroll over the taskbar icon and wait for that info square to pop up.

And another issue that occured: When turning of XP and the screen says "turning off.." the fan goes up like crazy.. louder than ever before. Also the noise at startup changed. It ist now also louder, but not as loud as it is at the "turning-off"-sequence.

What are your guys max temperature with fan comlpetely off. Like when you set the fan to 90? (the ones AA1 Fan tool reports, speedfan i.e. gives different numbers) Mine seem to max at 75 and i wonder if it would help to put some heatsinks in the fan port, i never want to hear that thing again.

But does anyone know how to remove this and go back to the stock fan speeds??? There is no option to remove and when I turn it off on the tray and reboot it loads back up on startup...checked the startup folder, nope not there either...any clue???

You can run msconfig and see it under startup items. Uncheck it and then reboot. Every time you run it however it adds a startup entry.
