The optimal setting for me would be a very slow speed continuously, with a 10 second spin up whether the temps reach the threshold.

Would everybody please post there average idle temperatures, mine is around 57C running vista.

This utility needs an update :)

The fan configuration is very primitive, and currently the utility floods the event log with ACPIEC errors.

I guess this is what a beta is for!

This has great potential...But as it is right now it's far from brilliant. I would much prefere for the fan to be constantly on... but very slowly... maybe 10%? As it is right now the fan is off and i've been watching the temp creep up from 42 where the fan was on up to 56... It's seemed to stop climbing...for now. Granted the fan was on constantly with xp but not at 100% like this fan controller does when it's reached the set temp. Maybe 10% for under temp, 40% when hit the temp and only 100% when it reaches a danger temp, like >70?

    Just an idea :D

The maximum temperature Intel recommends is don't go over 90C.
    Good luck tweaking!!

From how hot it feels sometimes, I guess it's pretty close to 90C, core temp show over 88Cand fan speed shows 70C, AA1FanControl shows 60......

So where is the original author?? (LoveTheOne I'm calling you out!) :)

We've given a lot of input, time for version v 1.0 :) I will not run this until there is an update, b/c like everyone has been saying, it seems like the fan speed is at 10% max when trying to cool. we need more control over this. If the cpu is getting hot, I want my fan to kick in atleast 50% speed, not 10%.

Yes dear author, where are you ?

I have a question: how noisy is your A150 ?
Mine is noisy like an old PC. It's not required to use the AA1 to hear the fan.

Yeah as it is it's way to noisy. I have a pc next to me with 9 120mm fans and when the AA1 kicks in it's louder than all of them (granted their all running at <1000rpm).

@LoveTheOne: Fan Control Software for Windows XP and Vista

OK, to sum up: It looks like some of us have very low fan rpm (=barely hearable) when the fan kicks in and some other too high (=quite loud). It does not seems to depend on the BIOS version. So this tool should at least allow for manual fan rpm setting. And the error issues should be solved: ACPIEC and skins (I would also opt for a text tray version that has an autostart with windows checkbox).
One user posted something about a 30 day demo version of the software tool that lets us run your software. Would this mean that after 30 days we cannot run you tool anymore?

Dear LoveTheOne, please let us know what you think of these items!

LoveTheOne, I hope you're dedicating needed time to get this program updated. If you don't have enough time, you could open up the source and let other modders get this updated. :p Just a suggestion...

My A150 fan seems to be about as noisy as the 120G hard drive. I would have to go into a quiet room (without other computers) to hear it running. I can feel the slight breeze at the outlet on the left side, and can hear the fan if I put my ear up very close.

Noise (fan speed) does not seem to change with Linpus, WinXP, or Vista. Mine came with BIOS 0.3114.

My fan never goes off. Even if I reboot, it just slows down, then speeds up again. Does anyone else have a fan that never shuts off? I'm on AC 99% of the time. With itunes, IE, running, so maybe that's why, but it's winter, so I'd hate to see how loud it's going to get in summer. I don't want to return it for another as it's got no dead pixels, it's set up how I want it, but I don't know if this will get worse. I've only had it one day and I only have 7 days to get an exchange or it will have to go to Acer after that.

a temporarily solution for now is to create 2 user accounts, one with the fan control installed, and the other clean. For normal use i start the "fan account" if I am about to start something that i know to be system demanding, I start the other acount.. makes the fan speed up to max. and the aa1 is cool again..

Did anybody managed to have a serious talk with the Acer America (the comapny) about this problem? I tried without success. I was kept on hold for more than 60 minutes at leat four times. Very bad customer service and a big disappointment.

    Hello again!

First of all ... Thank you for all the feedback ... You told me things i never would have find out myself!

    So ... i finished version 1.0 BETA.
I didn´t have too much time, and i changed a lot of code, so i can´t promise that it is now running perfectly.
That´s why it still remains BETA.

Still getting the rampant error log entries (ACPIEC) in the System section of the Event Viewer.

    Thanks for a great program!

    Hey Greg!

Are you sure, because i don´t get these ACPI-Errors anymore?
Ok ... i am running Vista ... I have to run XP to find this out clearly.

    Hmm...

    Best regards

    LoveTheOne,

I too am getting these ACPI error messages. The tool looks great but the error messages are the main reason why I don't want to use it.

I am running Windows XP Home.
