So my aao recently developed the fan noise problem. It was practically silent before.

I notice the noise is significantly louder if turned on after the system has been left off for some time, and gradually gets quieter. This got me thinking that the fan may not have enough bearing oil or lubricant, or is using an oil that is susceptible to temperature.

I ran a search, but couldn't find any discussions pertaining to this. Has anyone tried re-lubricating their fan bearings, or something along those lines?

I think the fan is a maglev, so shouldn't it not have any bearings?

lol, hit it with a hammer while you're at it :D

Dust is the usual cause of noise in computer fans (unless they're really old), try blowing really hard into the fan slot, or stick a powerful vacuum cleaner against it for a minute (probably best to turn off the machine first)

Note, the fan starts up when the chipset warms up - which is natural after a few minutes of operation
