mine was very quiet, but around two month it is pretty load. Clearly not working as it should Perhaps might be possible to change the fan. Have to try and find out if it is hard to get into. Don't want to send it back just because of a loader than normal fan.
My main note book has a quieter fan now, but not when I first started using the aspire. So I think this must be limited to a few only.

Mine was pretty loud and on basically all the time till i found this speed controller

    http://www.computentsystems.de/aceraspireonefancontrol/

sets the temp at which the fan comes on to really high. I have changed it to 55 and that keeps it quiet while its idle. Fires up when i start doing stuff though. Anyone know how hot is relatively safe for an Atom?

I am sorry to tell you but that does not fix the problem it just mask an issue that needs to be addressed. Acer needs to be made aware of this issue so that it can be resolved. I sent my AA1 in for repair today because of the fan. I know no-one wants to be without there computer because I did not want to, but I would rather be without for 10 days then to lose the system to faulty hardware. So everyone who is experiencing issues with a loud fan PLEASE contact Acer and make them aware of this. It will help out other who may run into this issue.
