I know the acer aspire one comes with a 19 volt center pin positive 40 watt power supply

i was looking at a power supplies specs. I was about to toss it on eBay for sale. Its from a gateway 9550 it is the exact same connector, same center pin positive, 19 volts, but it is 140 watt.

Do you guys think this would work well as a fast charger, or is it more possible that it would provide to much amperage and overload the charging circuit?

Amperage is defined by the laptop. I use a 90W Asus adaptor for charging my Aspire One at work, but I haven't noticed any change in charge time. I'd guess the stock adaptor has a little extra juice anyway.

The charge rate is determined by the battery itself. My guess is you could hook it to the worlds largest 19 volt battery or use the oem power supply and achieve about the same chaging time.
