My problem is similar to other posts in this section but not quite as described.

Instead of booting into Linux, I had a black screen with moving cursor.

Having read various posts, I decided to re-flash the BIOS. I used v3114 on a flash drive and it performed the flash routine as expected but didn't re-boot at the end. I then realised I'd picked up the oldest rather than newest BIOS from the Acer support site so tried again with v.3309.

Here's the process I'm following. Maybe someone can correct me:

    1) Downloaded v.3309 from Acer
    2) Copied FASHIT and 3309.fd to a usb stick (FAT formatted)
    3) Renamed 3309.fd to zg5ia32.fd
    4) put in ACER, pressed Fn and Esc simultaneously and turned power on
    5) Power light flashed on and off
    6) After a few seconds pressed power again.

When I tried with the older BIOS the light flashed for several minutes before stopping. However, now it's only flashing for about 30 seconds before going steady. The fan is whiring up and down but no activity from the processor light.

    This is an AAO 110.

Looks like it's fatal but any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks
    David

Dumb question (and I'm rather late with it, but I haven't looked into the AA1 forum for a couple of months), but will your AA1 boot from a USB flash drive?
