The specifications for Fedora 16 say, that it requires at least 740 MB RAM. Therefore Fedora is not suitable anymore for my AAO, which has only 512 MB.

It seems that Fedora is now going the same way as Windows: high memory consumption.

Is there any distro continuing for the next years which has lower requirements so that I can use it?
Obviously I have to move on, since my F14 is now outdated and will not be kept up to date anymore.

There are several small footprint Linux distributions available. You might want to consider Crunchbang Linux, http://crunchbanglinux.org/ , or Knoppix, http://www.knoppix.org/ . They both work equally well on machines with limited memory. I currently have Knoppix installed on my AAO ZG5 and Crunchbang installed on an eleven year-old laptop with only 512MB of memory; they both run just fine.

    Good luck,
