Would be cool to mod a biometric finger print reader on the A1. Good location would be probably on the left side palm rest.

You are right, it would be pretty cool, but the problem with a mod like this is making it look good. Unless whatever you are installing has some sort of flange that covers the hole you have cut in the case it is likely to look very home made.

Cutting holes in cases is (for me at least) too difficult to do neatly enough not to look very amateurish. Even drilling round holes tends not to look great. Cutting square holes neatly is hard.

If you have any good ideas as to how to do this without making a dog's breakfast of the case, I would be interested to hear them. It is possible (or even likely) that you are better at this than I am.

    BTW Nice diagram.

Fingerprint readers are useless. They can be bypassed easily...

so the methods ive seen on youtube require either moulds and rubber, or your mate whose print it needs to put his thumbprint in wax

hehe that video was interesting... and you prob won't have to look further than the lid of the AA1 in question to find your fingerprint!
but i think having biometrics built in is still quite handy, if not for security, then for convience e.g for logins, auto-filling forms etc.

also making holes in cases and making it look good isn't too hard, just quite time consuming, i suggest searching google for people
who have modded their psp cases.. they can look very professional if done correctly

maybe you could take off the smt pressure pad off and replace the kingsington lock with it. You just need to make the small hole a little bigger, that's all.

for modding plastic case my dad taught my a trick that i love

take an exacto knife and take a flame of some sort heat up the blade and it will cut the plastic
    with eas

since i have used this method a few time i though it would be better to make a more advanced system
so i tok my old soldering iron and moddified it so i could put the exacto knife at the end
