Fairly rarely, I get dumped from an article I'm reading back to the basic desktop. Today, for example, I followed HotAir to Time magazine's article about a Ralph Nader novel, but despite returning several times, even directly to Time without going through HotAir, I was unceremoniously dumped back to the desktop. This has happened before, again rarely. Is this a factor of something I'm doing, of the site, or anything at all I could correct? Any ideas? - Ned

Could be the site, could be Firefox, not likely to be something you're doing. Are you using the most recent version of Firefox for your distro?
