    Re: SSD accelerator

Seeing as it uses RAM for buffering (or something?), will it work with 512MB of RAM?

    Re: SSD accelerator

Definitely seeing that things got faster.... truly interesting! Let's see how the system performs after several hours...

But great (I mean GREAT) job for the developer. May the Acer take a look on it!

    Cheers

    Hi!
May we hope you also developp flashpoint for linux (and linpus)?
I suppose the problem should be the same.

    Thanks in advance. :geek:

    Re: SSD accelerator

Hi all, 1st time poster after a couple of weeks of lurking, with a recently purchased 1GB RAM/16GB SSD A1/w XP. I've had the accelerator installed for maybe 30min, a huge difference. Stalls are really eliminated, and no ill effects so far. I'd done everything in the WinXP thread and still had quite a bit of hangs/stalls. This is a MAJOR improvement; kudo's, and many thanks to the developer!

    Re: SSD accelerator

Many thanks from the german Aspire One wiki and forum http://www.aaowiki.de

All users that testes it so far are VERY happy with the performance improvement.

This tool will soon replace all the ewf and fbwf howtos for windows...

Thanks for the great work !

    Re: SSD accelerator

    Hi!
I'm always wondering: what about a Linux (Linpus) version?
I can't imagine I've no answer because It's a Bill's friend who created the program
I even wonder if this wouldn't be more efficient with Linux.
Dont' mistake I'm not at all a troll.
    Thxs.

    Re: SSD accelerator

As far as i know Linux (the standard Linpus) does not have big Problem with lag at all.
And maybe developing a Windows and Linux drivers is a totally different job?

In the end it won't be more efficient with Linux because Linux does not have as big problems with the SSD as windows have. It can't be more efficient than with windows...

    Re: SSD accelerator

Surely, we have to develop Linux version also.... in the future.
But, it is very early stage of FlashPoint, and urgent task is stabilizing XP FlashPoint, we believe.

Hopefully, internal mechanism of FlashPoint will be released in academic paper in the near future.
Then, many other great developers will be able to implement it on many other platforms.

    Re: SSD accelerator

    Hi,

Has anybody (maybe the programmers) compared zflashpoint with the dskcache.exe tweak?

    http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum ... hp?t=43460

It activates the "Power Protected write cache option", so it is somehow using windows memory "better" for disk cache.

I am using dskcache and I am quite happy.

    Regards

    Thanks very much!!

One quick question - Can I enable to paging file now or will it not make and difference?

Any idea if this will be available for vista or windows 7 in the future? Windows 7 works quite good on the AAO but it can always be better! :D

    Re: SSD accelerator

It only uses 24MB of RAM for the buffer so you still have enough RAM for your apps.

Now I might actually consider upgrading my AAO to 1.5GB however. Before I just didn't feel it was worth it because the bottleneck was always the SSD writes.

I've been using that tweak for a long time. It only improved performance slightly, if at all. The write latency of the SSD is so high (up to 2000+ms) that the usual Windows cache routines just don't work. That's why a relatively large (24MB) write buffer is required. You can probably deactivate the above tweak once the SSD accelerator is installed. No point for Windows to "cache" writes that are already in the 24MB cache of the SSD accelerator...

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

Worked fine for me too, thanks!
    :p

If I understood the info correctly, this only worked for the boot disk (C:) and not for other devices, correct? I would like it for the left SDHC card which is a fixed disk now days, with the Hitachi micro driver...

    Thanks again,
    DkY
