Does zflashpoint have a PayPal account? The flashpoint driver seems to be an outstanding contribution to the AA1 userspace, surely this deserves some appreciation?

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

I went back to XP Home SP3 just to test out Flashpoint.... and wow oh wow, this thing rocks! Goodbye lags! No shutdown problem here either, XP home SP3 starts in 45sec w/ rocketdock and NOD32 V3 running on startup. Fantastic. :) Keep up the excellent work. This breathes new life on the SSD based A110.

I can't thank you enough for this!

Installed it today on my AAO (8gb flash, 1.5gb RAM, XP SP3) and the performance increase is incredible. It used to take about 3 minutes to become usable after login, but with Flashpoint b3p1 it's about 30 seconds. It's really turned my machine into something that's enjoyable to use.

just as a FYI if you are on beta 3 you will want to get up to 3.1. Also if you ever need to run fdisk you will have to uninstall flashpoint and then reinstall after fdisk has run. The developer is actively looking for a solution for this.

I've noticed this. How do I go about removing it should I need to?

There is a REG_MULTI_SZ registry key at:

    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e967-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\UpperFilters

Use regedit or your preferred registry editor to remove the "diskfp" entry, leaving the other string value(s) intact, then reboot.

On my machine the only other data value under this key is "PartMgr".

    A question to ronime:
Looking at your profile both your AA1's are normal hard drives and not solid state. Are you using flashpoint on these hard drives?

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

Not any more. I tried it briefly on my A150-AB which has a fairly quick WDC HDD, purely out of curiosity. I took some rough timings for bootup and launching FireFox 3 before and after installing FlashPoint. I couldn't determine any particular advantage for HDD use so I removed it.

The feedback for FlashPoint looks impressive. If this had been available 3 months ago I suspect that I would never have sold my A110.

That clears that up. I wont bother trying it on my HD versions. And it did make a great difference to the SSD versions my kids have.

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

I'm a new owner of a AAO and i read alot of this little beast,

I have a concern about Flashpoint, I've done everything that has been told and my SSD benched in ATTO is slower than it was before. I have the Intel SSD 8Gb in my AAO. On the lower transfert FlashPoint has speed-up the whole writing, but as soon as i got passed the 32Kb, the writing seem to be stucked at about 5Mb/second. I'm providing a screenshot of before and after. It's clearly visible that something is strange passed the 32Kb mark. With all the other graphics that i saw earlier, i think that there is a problem. If someone could give me some advise it would be greatly appreciated.

    Here's my system config:

    AAO 8Gb SSD Intel
    1Gb ram
8Gb SDHC card in left card reader
16Gb SDHC in right card reader

I forgot to mention that my drive is FAT32 and Windows is XPPro SP2.

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

It is the first time to see the result of Intel SSD, I think.
Anyway, the gain(or loss) of FlashPoint may be different up to the SSD firmware.

If you are using SDMMC card like fixed disk, now USBFP (FlashPoint removable disk support version) is available.
Visit our Blog. and try it. ^^

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

I've installed it the minute i see it. All i can say is that it's better now. The SDHC cards respond faster and every access is snappier.

Thank you for these great speedy solutions.

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

To my certain knowledge, there are two different types of Intel SSD that have been utlilised by Acer the in A110.
The first type had a reputation for being horrendously slow, but the later type seems to exhibit similar performance to the Samsung SSDs.
The model name for the later Intel SSDs is "SSDPAMM00081G".
There is a thread discussing the performance of the OEM SSDs here: viewtopic.php?f=54&t=303

I didn't know that the all SSDs of A110 are from Intel.
    Thank you :)

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

Not quite. Acer shipped some A110s with Samsung devices. You should be able to determine the 3 different model name strings from the SSD thread:

    "P-SSD 1800" (Samsung)
    "SSDPAM0008G1EA" (Early Intel)
    "SSDPAMM00081G" (Later Intel)

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

I've checked and mine is the SSDPAMM0008G1 ver. 2.10k. It's better than the first Intel, but there is something strange with the behavior of this SSD with FP. I don't know if it's the disk version or something else. So i'll keep watching for new FP version to see if it will improve my writing speed.
