    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

    Hey guys,

I had the exact same issue regarding the slow down with the latest version, which i solved by using the below reg entry, although this led to my windows update issue which i couldnt solve so i had to uninstall and go back to beta 3sp1 version which is working fine as well as windows update, seems pretty fast but not as good as the newest version with the flush turned off, but thats just my opinion.

    "FIX:

This beta has flush enabled by default (Flush=1), which means that it will not speed up your system as much as previous betas.

The fix is easy, just disable flush in the registry.

    Download this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=51e0 ... f6e8ebb871
Extract, double click, apply and reboot."

Just to update, I did what Neo did and went back to the original Beta4 and now my small AAO is EXTREMELY fast. I'm just gonna stick to the OEM windows and forget about running TinyXP. :D

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

Im using the TinyXP with a lot of applications like a full installation of Office, Photoshop etc on my AA1. It nearly killed the mashine - and not to mention my lust for using the mashine

After installing this superb software it not only could startup. 2 minutes before installation compared to aprox 15 seconds after (from standby). And best of all - no hangups when you use .

1 Install the latest version by rightclick the ini-file and install.
    2 Restart the computer.
3 Open Regedit (start-Run) and change the Flush from 1 to 0.
4 Restart again and SMILE :D

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

OK... So I used the B3 to B4 uninstall tool, then loaded B4P3. Everything was going good for a day or so now I have the corrupt registry problem when logging in as a user. Plus I've been getting the BSOD when I logoff (switching users is ok). Anyone have ideas on how to fix this, or am I going to have to reload XP?

You can try F8 at startup, and select "last good configuration".

I've also had several "registry corruption" with Beta4 and Beta5.
I had to install windows twice.

I am using B3P1, with no registry corruptions.

    Re: FlashPoint on a HDD?

I've put Flashpoint on two mini's now for friends with very good results. On my own AA1 I had already changed to 40 gb 1.8 hdd. I wonder if Flashpoint would give any extra improvement to a hdd?

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

Should I uninstall B4P3 before or after going back to "last good configuration"?
Does B3P1 give you the check disk errors during start-up?

    Thanks,
    Brian

Nope, it won't. Only on SSD. HD's are very good at small random writes.

    Re: FlashPoint on a HDD?

I just tried it on my OOS (8GB SSD) and got this after restarting:

    ---------------------------
    Windows - Registry Recovery
    ---------------------------
One of the files containing the system's Registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful.
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

I figured that restoring the registry could have wiped out my "install" by reverting the changes it had just made before restarting, so I installed it again. This time, I intended to wait a long time before restaring in case it just needed a lot of time to make the changes to the registry and commit them to the drive. In the mean time, I attempted to log out of my user and log back in to fix a problem... which strangely did not appear to be affecting me at the moment (is wanted to do it anyway). That problem is a typical one that Microsoft never fixed... missing Volume & Safely Remove Hardware icons after installing the latest .net Framework. Anyway, it blue-screened on me when logging out ("REGISTRY_ERROR").

I went through the motions again and got the same "recovery successful" message. Actually, it does it every time I restart (reinstallation or no) and blue-screens every time Iog off. I tried Safe Mode to reinstall and saw that both disk.sys and diskfp.sys is loading, but I left the installation files on my SD card, which is inaccessible in Safe Mode (I keep forgetting that I have my My Document folder redirected there :D). I rebooted a couple more times and finally entered Safe Mode with the installation files. After installing, it finally booted up without the registry recovery error message, but it still blue-screened when logging off and the message returned on subsequent boots. :(

I'm going to manually remove it when I get the time, but I'd prefer a solution. ;)
    Thanks!

Then why did they add an HDD mode recently? ;)

OK, I added a lot to that last post that may have been missed by anyone trying to help, so I figured that I'd report my results with the removal utility in a new post:
DAMMIT. :( I guess I'll have to do it manually and report back...

    Re: FlashPoint on a HDD?

    CZroe,

I also have the same registry corruption with Beta5 "normal" (lower-filters) version.

Now I am using the "upper-filters" version with no problem.

You can download it from (you must register to yahoo groups):
    http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/flashpointusers/

You can also see that the registry problems occur with other users (mainly AAO users?) and comments (including comments from me) about the problem and about how using the upper-filters version have solved the problems to us (at least some of us):

    http://zflashpoint.blogspot.com/2009/05 ... oaded.html
    http://zflashpoint.blogspot.com/

BE SURE TO REMOVE ALL TRACES (REGISTRY AND FILES) OF OLD INSTALLATIONS OF FLASHPOINT BEFORE INSTALLING B5-upper.
    Instructions:

Using flashpoint is a must for ssd and windows xp.

    Hope it helps

    Regards.

    Re: FlashPoint on a HDD?

Just to marginally improve writes of certain HDD's that are slow in doing so.... w/c is very uncommon right now. Specially with the AAO w/c has one of if not the fastest HDD's on a netbook. Sacrifices read speed as well. Not really worth it on an HD, just my opinion though.

Is Beta6 going to fix the registry problem or do I need to reinstall xp?

    Re: FlashPoint: SSD accelerator

The author says that the registry problem is fixed; I've tried Beta 6 with several logoff, logon, usb devices plugged in and out with no problems; but it's a good idea to backup your system before you try.

I'm using 3sp1 also. Works perfectly. I disabled DSKCHK at startup, don't run scandisk anyway, update works,

    fast as hell..

This has all turned into a bit of a mess, IMHO

First post to say thanks for flashpoint and all the info here

FlashPoint + MagicJack crash/bad windows profile

Magicjack no longer loads on my AOA110, this happened shortly after I installed v5 beta.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have tried all the methods MJ recommends to get it working and have not had any luck.
MJ works on a desktop, so I'm looking at something on the Aspire 1.

flashpoint and a ram disk have made browsing much more tolerable than it was before..

I got a corrupted profile message from Windows not long after installing flashpoint, anyone seen that happen?
