I'd like to report that Half-Life 2 works fine on the AAO 120gb 1gbRam. I had to use the following parameter to not make the game crash at auto-save.

    "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 220 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0 +snd_async_prefetch_priority 1

Anybody try to Everquest running on the Aspire? I figure EQ II wouldn't work, but the system requirements for EQ look do-able.

    System Requirements

    Required Specs:

    Windows® 98/2000/ME/XP
Pentium® II 400 equivalent or greater
    256 MB RAM
ATI Radeon 7500/NVidia GeForce 1 equivalent or greater
    DirectX Compatible Sound Card
    28.8k + Internet Connection
    4X Speed CD-ROM
500MB - 2.6GB Available Hard Drive Space (depending on how many expansions are installed)
    DirectX 9.0b
EverQuest Classic and a valid EverQuest account
    * Note: All Direct 3D cards not supported.

    Recommended Specs:

    Windows® 98/2000/ME/XP
    Pentium® 4 equivalent or greater
    512 MB RAM
NVidia GeForce 3/ATI Radeon 8500 equivalent or greater
    DirectX Compatible Sound Card
    56.6k + Internet Connection
    16X Speed CD-ROM
3.0+ GB Available Hard Drive Space
    DirectX 9.0b
EverQuest Classic and a valid EverQuest account
*Note: DirectX 9.0c or greater is required for all Win 98/ME/2000/XP

    What do people think?

I've tried Serious Sam 2 today: XP, no nlite, no swap file, 512MB RAM, Daemon (for a virtual CD drive) and it was perfect! Do I need it better? I never liked heavy games anyway...

I'm gonna try Syberia 2 soon... but I think It'll run smoothly...

    This is getting SERIOUS!!!

And on that note, zDoom - a modern port of the original Doom that supports player-made WADs - also works perfectly. Might want to be cautious about running something like Hell Revealed or nuts.wad on it, though. ;)

Everquest seems playable on lowest settings. Most important is a very, very low view distance.

The original Rainbow Six works great :D

    A few more notes:

Nexiuz, a free open-source FPS deathmatch game inspired by the Unreal Tournament games, plays just fine at 800x600 on Low detail.

Aquaria, a unique indie RPG, plays fine too, albeit at a slightly lower-than-normal framerate.

What version of Tiger Woods are you running? I've tried '08 (doesn't execute - no error message even) and '07 (starts to run and then errors out). I also have '05, but haven't tried it yet.

Say you are running a game like Sim City 4 in 800x600, will the Acer stretch the picture out to fill the screen or will it give you black bars or do you scroll about?

I run Far Cry with 1 gig of ram & 120GB HD AA1 and it works on low setting. You still have frame skip but it is still playable.

It is posible to set the Video settings to stretch SVGA (800x600) to fill the screen. To my mind this gives the best result for both SimCity4 and Alpha Centauri. (For SimCity4 I tried setting the resolution to 1024x600 but it only gave 1024x768 and chopped off a bit of the screen).

Very interesting, I was wondering why HL2 crashed from one level to another and I forgot about the autosave.

    Thanks

I have these games running on 120 gb XP with 512 mb of RAM

HL 15-28 fps (crawls when I run out of RAM in big fightscenes)

GTA3 runs great! 35 fps with occaisonal slowdowns

serious sam second encounter: okay @ 25 fps, i need to reconfigure it though

project 64 = awesome, no suprise

Deus ex invisible wars 2 = cannot get past loading screen.... some sort of incompatibility perhaps?

return to castle woflenstien= 30 fps with slowdowns
Peggle, Soldat ,Total annihalition all run over 40 fps

    lemme add:

command and conquer Generals; runs fine @ 30 fps

Find the shortcut to start the game (Or make a new one) and where the location of the app is given, expand it with the parameters above.
