    I am using Lucid Lynx.
Ubuntu Netbook Remix 10.04, and I uninstalled all software using social networks.
How do I get rid of the now useless icons at the top of the screen?
I want to get rid of the Indicator applet (chat client)

Right click on it with a mouse and select "remove from panel" should do it.

And you can't edit it in gconf-editor either...

you can get rid of the "me menu" by removing the package "indicator-me"
