Any heat issues? According to some threads, some sticks have run hot in Acer Aspire Ones, but it may be limited to the 8.9 models.

I know you like benchmarking, have you run Memtest or perhaps Everest?

I'm pretty happy with the performance of both Crucial and Patriot in my two D150s, both bought at Newegg discounts with free shipping. Pretty much the same specs, though they only run at CAS 5, not much need for faster with my usage.

it runs just as warm as the others that i have used
ALL the Netbooks AND laptops the Memory will run verry warm cause the lack for space for heat dissipation but it runs WAY under Max.
Laptop SODIMM modules have a higher MAX temperature rating over "standard " pc ram Just cause of that fact .
Plus the New Memory if its not cheep trash uses "BGA" ball grid array IC's that stand off the surface of the PCB for better Heat dissipation.

    i have used
    Hynix 512m PC2-5300s-555-12
    Hynix 1Gig PC2-5300s-555-12
    and this Transcend PC2-6400

and thay ALL sit at 115f to 120f

hell i got some Elcheepo ram in my Gateway MX6421 2 1Gigers Pc 2700 and thay run so hot you cant hold on to it for long @ 140f
and thats with the cpu AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology ML-32 1.8 GHz upgraded to a Amd Athlon64 3000+ @2206.6 Mhz and that has ben going for over 3 years every day like that.

well unless you put the netbook under a pillow you WILL be fine lol
I have had this acer D250 locked in the car for 3 hours and it was playing mp3 files with the fm transmiter while i was in the mall it just sat on the seat in "clamshell" mode and The car was hoter than hell when i came back out But it was still working just fine and still is as im typing in it now :p

    Cheeper ram Will run Hot
Alot of times with cheeper ram thay use cheeper BGA chips that are designed for lower clock speeds.
so when thay Build the SODIMM modules with them thay lable it as 533, 600, and soforth
it will work with higher clock speeds like this But run HOT in doing so. "just like OverClocking The ram"
thats why you shuld use faster ram than what is needed and GOOD ram.

    Like these:
    Kingston "Not Value Ram" :!:
    Transcend
    OCZ
    Hynix
    Micron

I was not as lucky trying a 2GB Crucial PC5300 DDR2 667stick in my AOD150, it will not post, kinda pissed I was all excited after just scoring the netbook off craigslist for real cheap, 1 mth old w receipt and box from a person requiring a bit bigger unit after playing with it for a month. I saw some sodimm for sale and fgured I could grab it on way home , well bad mistake as it does not work so I need to flog it and buy some Kingston which I see is a compatible module to replace the 1GB stick

Checked crucials site as well and the specific sodimm i have is not compatible CT25664AC667 CL5.....

    A-DATA
    Partnummer: AD2800002GOS-128X8RT
    2048MB / 2GB
    SoDimm DDR 800 - PC2-6400

Runs fine. Since its 800 it is underclocked in the Acer. No heat problems detected.

Thanks for the details, I bought the Crucial 2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 memory but it is getting rather hot, so I am thinking about going for faster memory as that wouldn't heat up that much, right?

According to one of the reviewers at the newegg link posted, Transcend replaced the higher performing chips with lower quality ones without notification. I don't know if that reviewer is corrrect, but it's something to watch for.

Unlike him you need to make shure with the shipper that it is CL5
thay Did not change the "chips" even his tag sed it was CL6.

And is just a Newegg Listing Isue.
Like with ALL shippers Ask to conferm the item Before You Buy.
I got mine all off ebay.

Even so the Netbook dont do 800Mhz

ALL 40 of the ones that i have ordered have ben CL5. ;)

The A-Data memory I have is giving exactly the same specification in CPU-Z. And runs cool too.
At a low price, I did not find lower here in the Netherlands.
www.transcend.com has online stores in Europe, a dutch and a german I know for sure. The prices are good, but higher than the Computerland store price.

    PC2-6400, DDR2 800 SODIMM seems a good partner for the D250!

Hi all... New to the forum so hoping someone can help, oh and apologies if this has already been asked and answered somewhere...

I have just purchased the Aspire One AOD150-1b and when I do a search for compatible memory it comes back saying transcend ddr2 667mhz (pc2-5300) 200 pin sodimm
But after reading through this forum I see people are going for Transcend DDR2-SDRAM PC2-6400.

Would the Transcend DDR2-SDRAM 800 (PC2-6400) be suitable/best for the D150 I have? Or should I stick with the other one...

    Thanks for any info offered.
