Got Asus Eee 901

I purchased the Asus Eee 901 with Windows XP preinstalled and so far I loving it. Comes with 8.9in screen, 1GB RAM , and also 6cell battery. So far I have no trouble running WIndows XP on SSD drive because since Windows XP was preinstalled it was optimized for the SSD. I'm basically using this in place of my desktop computer since all I really do is web surfing and light word processor. This works great and I might not consider getting another desktop computer if my old one stop working

But the best part of all is that in the end I actually spent $389.35 even though it retail for $599. I used the Live.com 25% cashback and 10%PayPal coupon and shipping was also free. I actually paid less for Asus Eee 901 than I would if I get the Acer One in August because its $399 and shipping + tax might be factor in to

And it's the 901 with Atom and 16 + 4 GB SSD's, not the 900 with Celeron and 16 GB SSD?
We don't even have 901 on sale here in Finland yet, only 900, which costs the same as the One. 901 might've been a good competitor for the One if the price is right, but since it's not on sale and there's no clue about the price I didn't stay and wait for it. After all, we got the 701 here 2 months ago.........

 

the keyboard of the eee 7xx/9xx is too small, I wanted a netbook to type on, so I got the AAO. I wouldn't even buy a 901 if it was cheaper than the AAO 110L

 

It's whatever you are happy with. The 901 is one of the few netbooks widely available in stores where I live, so I've played around with it more than once.

It's dumpy.

The metal accents are tacky.

The keyboard is painfully cramped.

Whereas the original 700/701 had cuteness and a sleek design going for it even if the 800 pixel baseline screen and chicklet keyboard made it a non-started for me, the 901 gets the screen right but everything else wrong, despite having all you could ask for inside it.

 

It's the price and the keyboard that did it for me. I've heard the keyboard on the One is much less cramped than any of the EeePC's. Also I've heard the One has a much better build quality. I was definitely wavering between the 2 for a little bit though.

 

Dude... you got robbed. Acer = Eee Hammer.

 

And don't forget the AAO has the best 8.9 inch LCD of all the netbooks currently available..... the only competition I can see is the Lenovo S10, I'll probably get one when it becomes available in my location. I kinda have trust on Lenovo quality since my workhorse laptop is a Lenovo x60s series thinkpad.
