GUI

    i want to install a desktop GUI like in windows XP etc. without corrupting the linpus GUI.
    The package manager shows two options, gnome and kde.
    Will these give me a windows style desktop so that i don't have to revert to what i used to do with ms dos in order to navigate directories?
    Which would you recommend?
    Once installed, how do i get the gui to run?
