i have seen this chip before, im abit confused about it. where r u supposed to put it? my 1st guess would be in the 3g slot as i dont think it will fit on top of the HDD..
being a solderless kit, i dont get where it would connect to..? it doesnt seem long enough to connect to the camera :? im also slightly concerned about the wire length to the touchscreen zif cable..

what ebay seller did you guy this from?? can you email him for directions as sometimes they have some good pics to send you..

That is most likely the eshop_k kit. It is a kit built for the EeePC 901/904 and the controller is a USB hub/TS controller all in one.

What it's supposed to do on those computers is hijack the camera USB from the M/B (USB IN), put the camera USB in USB1/2/3 and the TS in the TOUCH port.

However, the included wires are not long enough to be used on the One (I believe the EeePC camera USB connection is close to the motherboard as opposed to the top of the LCD cover like it is on the One).

So you can either solder the wires to the miniPCI-e/CN11/side USB but you probably will have to splice some wires so the TS can reach the controller.

[edit] You do not have to desolder the ports off the controller. They are not as big as the huge ones the OP had on his.

i can confirm that after 18 hours of being shut down with no power cord the AAO was at 99% battery life. CN11 does not drain power.[/quote:zyiqbshm]

    Good to know. :)

no need to solder it to the M/B as posted by lufcfan, is there no problem w/ the supply (volt) ....?

Does anyone know if there will be a performance difference between the touchscreens with usb 1.1 controllers Vs usb 2.0 controllers?

Will there be an effect upon latency? or power usage?

In the end I ordered mine from deal extreme; with free world wide delivery it works out quite a lot cheaper than the ebay seller or fidohub.

    Just hope I don't regret being a cheap-skate :)

Spliced the final wires yesterday and put it back together (after taking it apart again to fix the wires that were getting pinched in the hinge that I didn't notice lol).

Worked perfectly after I installed the included drivers. Tried that Vista default touchscreen stuff just to see how it worked beforehand. It worked, but one of the diagonal axes was flipped and I saw no option to calibrate (I also didn't look very hard either).

No decalibration issues either after closing the lid (plenty of slack in the wiring). Controller is mounted on top of the HDD (though I could have gone to the 3G port, and very well may since there is some very minor middle case flexing due to the foam tape I used to secure, not a very noticable effect on the keyboard but I KNOW it's happening and that kinda stuff bugs me lol).

For no real applicable reason of doing it besides looking cool and interesting, I am pleased with the results. Pressure sensitivity is odd in some places but hardly a hinderance. A+ mod, would do again. ;)

    hi,

just wondering if someone can offer me some advice of how to get my touch panel to work...

i have an acer aspire one A150

i have add the solderless fidohub from ebay. installed it all and switched it on windows 7 seem to have found the drivers itself and loaded them, i have looked in the control panel under mice and devices and its listed as a usb controller - universal

but when i try the calibration problem the touch screen doesnt acknowledge me touching it...

even when i load the the software that came with it still no response from the screen.

    any ideas what is happening

    thanks alot

Do you have the lastest drivers .5310 not .5301?

Be sure to disconnect any USB mouse, during driver install and calibration.

Most likely the screen is sensing a touch, either from the bezel or something bridging the gap between the top and bottom of the TS.

Check the panel resistence, it should go from open to shorted on each pair of wires when you touch the screen.

Windows 7 has it's own TS calibration utility, but it does not agree with the Drivers tool.

    jerryt,

    thanks alot for the reply....

when i installed the panel i did not put anything between the lcd screen and the touch panel apart from some double sided sticky tape thats as thick as normal sellotape.

i will check which drivers i have installed when i get home, i got them from the website i think.

i tried the inbuilt calibration setup and nothing as well.

i think i will take it all apart again and check everything, i really was hoping it would work first time, didnt want to open it again....

    thanks alot

there should be a sma-all light-green led light that turns on every time u touch the screen. look carefully, it should be there.

also how u can check. put the ohm meter sticks on the ts-controller connections above (ts-controller to zif-cable), one on 1 and one on 2, or 3&4, and touch the screen. if ohm meter showed you smth like 750 it should show smth like 350 (it means it shorts - thus, works).

check the flat cable if it is broken ( cuz i broke mine close to the screen)

Some controllers don't have the LED, my didn't.

I recommend that you not route the ribbon cable thru the hinge.

    With a digital Multimeter I was getting open to shorted on 1 & 2 and 3 & 4.

I had the doubleside sticky tape wrapped around the corners of the screen and had the same problem of the screen not sensing any touch. I removed the screen and cleaned the edges with window cleaner to remove all sticky.
