ok. now my screen is now taken apart, the problem is the bezel.

once teh_qube asked to upload some pics of it, i do, with comments.

DSC05471r.JPG[/attachment:21iienpk]

left-hand side of bezel makes pressure on the TS so it loses calibration. and probably because of that it slowly slides down, u will see that on the pics below. so below i made just straight line and look how the pointer goes. it messes up.

DSC05472.JPG[/attachment:21iienpk]

and then i dismounted the bezel and hey, it doesnt decalibrate and mess up! so the problem is here.

DSC05473.JPG[/attachment:21iienpk]

below is the top left corner of the screen. it is stuck on two layers of double tape.

DSC05474.JPG[/attachment:21iienpk]

now compare the pic above with the pic below. u can see that the touch screen is mounted uneven.

DSC05477.JPG[/attachment:21iienpk]

it is because it slided down. below is general left side of the screen:

DSC05476.JPG[/attachment:21iienpk]

and this is the pic for jerryt, this is the way i routed my flat cable. the screen side is ripped so i was have to stick it to the screen to restore connection. when i move the screen a bit sometimes it loses the connection and pointer goes all the way up or down the screen..

DSC05475.JPG[/attachment:21iienpk]

im plannin to take off the TS and restick it back higher. then i want to put some stuff (like wood matches of something of that size) on the sides of TS to lift the bezel to set some space between the bezel and TS to remove pressure.

does anyone have any comments maybe?

SUCCESS!

Now it works!

I took off the touch panel:

DSC05478.JPG[/attachment:2cytfyxn]

removed all sticky, then reassembled panel back. by the way, i took a pic of the rip on the flat cable:

DSC05480.JPG[/attachment:2cytfyxn]

then i cut many pieces of thick paper and stick them with doubletape along the edges of the panel:

DSC05482.JPG[/attachment:2cytfyxn]

DSC05483.JPG[/attachment:2cytfyxn]

thus, no pressure on the panel anymore. some free space appeared between the screen and the bezel though.

DSC05484.JPG[/attachment:2cytfyxn]

maybe i will have to do one more surgery because double tape is so weak that the panel unsticks and slides down (thats the reason). but finally i ve finished installing touch screen on my acer aspire one a150.

thanx everyone who helped me with it!!!

ha, by the way, below is my selfmade stylus... :) :)

Mine is behind the screen, very little exposed ribbon cable.

I've routed my ribbon cable almost identically to yours.

On the screen, I used very little double sided sticky - just 4 tiny squares in each corner, and 2 tiny squares half way along each edge.
I don't get any problem with the bezel applying pressure to the screen.
Though, how tight are you making the screws that hold the bezel on? In my experience they have to be less tight than they were without the touchscreen installed.

Mine are screwed down all the way w/ no cracking, though there is some flexing in the bezel.

However the flexing would still be there due to the tabs connecting the bezel to the lid.

Just picked up a £33 one from dealextreme, packaging was perfect, I mounted it with the flexi in the top right and ran wires down and through the hinge, this avoided going near the main screen cable,

Also i mounted the controller in the empty hatch as had a normal ssd case modded to accept a 2.5" so it was too tight to go above the HD.

Had to release all the screws half a turn to stop it pinching the edges but now its fine

got mine installed today, works great. Im currently dual booting xp and windows 7. has anyone tried getting the gesture features to work in windows 7 yet? scrolling would be nice when going through thousands of mp3's but windows 7 wont recognized the touchkit driver as a touchscreen controller. strange. great tutorial by the way, still needs to be updated as my wires were 1,2,3,4 order and not 2,1,3,4. at first when i got everything together the y axis was upside down so i initially thought the y+ and y- were crossed on the controller but quickly found out a calibration fixed it.

Mike

p.s. flicking in firefox is great! wish internet explorer had that feature.

I just ordered a solderless TS from ebay and have a few questions...

From the picture on ebay they don't seem to include the "USB Harness"? Where can I buy these "USB Harness"?

In another ebay listing the seller included a piece of copper foil tape "In order to aviod any overheat problems on P.C., it is recommended by our Engineering Dept.". Does anyone had any overheating problems?

Seems like a lot of people have problem with the bezel. I have not received mine yet but I am worried... Is it possible to use sand paper to make the bezel thinner to fit the touchscreen better?

Thanks...

NEED help with solderless touchscreen

I followed a guide on youtube and also the one that comes with it, i managed to fit the touchscreen, i then copied the drivers from disk on to my usb but it says that there is no touchscreen plugged in, its not finding it, ive tried everything i can think of, when installing it i left out the two USB expansion ports because i had nothing to plug into them, dunno if that would make a difference, can anyone help ?

Could someone please inform me of what the correct way to solder the touch screen controller using CN11 port would be. Do we use the ground and 5 volt source specified by lufcfan while using the USB+ and USB- from CN11 or do we use all of the connections provided by CN11 altogether. A diagram would be appreciated.

Also could someone please give me a general idea of where they chose to place their touch controller board. In Lufcfans guide he chose to place it on top of the harddrive but has anybody chosen any different locations? Where have people who used CN11 chosen to place their touch controller?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

Help!

I got the solderless kit from DealExtreme, and thankfully it arrived in one piece. I installed it today... and took about 6 hours with a friend helping me >.>

We had a LOT of trouble with wiring, because the included wires were too short, and we had to re-route the webcam cable to the usb hub board... (up to the screen on the left, then down again, then to the hub on the right side...) We tried routing the cable from the hub to the webcam via the right side, but it was too short to reach.

After 6 hours of pain... we finally got everything back together, and booted up. Windows 7 didn't recognize anything, even after installing drivers... and windows xp saw the usb hub (not sure if win7 did or not, it never prompted). Now I have an aspire one with a lot of "leaking seams" (small gaps), dead webcam, and no touch screen

the only good part of the story was I managed to upgrade to 1.5gb in the same go... and that seemed to work
still, as my friend said... "6 hours to upgrade your ram is pretty bad.." lol

I'm just really surprised we didn't break anything on the motherboard or destroy the screen

Is there anyone in here who have tried this with aspire one D150?!?
I have a D150 and would love to be able to have this mod! :D

The big question is, are the MB the same as aspire one A150?

On the EEEuser forum; http://forum.eeeuser.com/index.php

Forum member gospeed.racer

Sells the cables for $4.00 ea plus $2.00 shipping for up to 6 cables. I got mine from him within a couple of days. They don't have the male end for a standard USB drive, so you would need to find those on ebay.

But maybe kameyu can post a link to his source.

Can anybody with a touchscreen installed verify for me if the screen is pretty solid (like a piece of glass) throughout the whole screen. Or if the is a slight gap between the screen and the glass it comes on. If I shine a bright light on my screen and press on the left side, you can see the screen depress just slightly, enough to make the reflection of the light move. But on the right side of the screen when I press there is no visible movement of the screen or the reflection. Just want to which is normal. I cannot get my screen to calibrate whatsoever, it just performs erratically no matter what driver I use. If anybody is looking for a prewired controller, I have one. Works great on CN11, if you have a screen to go with it. Or I would sell it with the screen if you want.
