    Hey all.

When i'm in a quiet environment, i can hear periodic clicks coming from the A1, it seems to sync with the green lgiht accessing the hard drive. I'm running the 160gb version of the A1 with Windows XP. Should this be something i should b worried about? or is this common to all hard drive based A1s?

I have it to. But looking at this thread viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1585&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=clicking it seems to be the aggressive power management kicking in. But the thread only shows how to stop it for linux, any ideas for windows?

Edit: After updating to the latest 0.3304 bios it seems to be doing it less now.

pardon my lack of knowledge, how does one go about upgrading the BIOS? And are there any side effects to upgrading? Earlier, i've read posts about bricking after upgrading.

Here is how I did it.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=246530

pretty simple. Download the HP Boot Maker and Bootme.zip (which is win 95 or 98 files)
    Make your usb bootable
Copy the dir containing the BIOS over (like a dir called v3304)
reboot hit F12 so that you choose to boot from USB
    should start in dos
go to BIOS Dir you made
    run 3304
    it will do the rest
